Lesvet Set'my, 17 texts by Anna Alchuk in 23 movements (2002) 17'
soprano solo; flute/ alto flute, oboe, clarinet/bass clarinet, violin, viola, cello, double bass
This is a so-called lyrical diary of so-called vanguard
composer on vanguard lyrics by Russian poet.
Alchuk's micro-poems consist of words and half-words
which link each other by syllabes and thus reveal ambiguous meanings.
23 movements can be played in any order, forming new fabula. In this
performance they follow order set by the score. Pauses between
movements are up to performers; they are an integral part of the work,
so among 17 minutes of total duration "net music" takes 12.
Every tiny movement (from ten seconds up to a minute,
average 20-30'') is written at a stroke of the pen. Some texts got
different sound settings. It was a sort of exercise, as the most
difficult thing is speaking the same in other words.
