Dramma muto (2005) 10'
clarinet, violin, cello, piano
Commissioned by Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble
‘Dramma muto’ ('muted drama') presents a collection of common, more or less, sound gestures, reduced onto abstract frames or performing archetypes. In other words, there is no musical thoughts but their skeletons, so the whole piece goes off "normal" sound. There is also no drama as touching stage action. The piece has nothing to do with instrumental theatre, its dramatic point is implied in music behavior of performers and relationships within their foursome as well as conflict correlations between short sections making each other meaningless.
